| Volunteer Your Time and Talent
Interested in sharing some of your time with our participants? Want to help kids stay in school? There are many ways for committed members to get involved with the S.O.U.L. Creations SOUL Experience Program. We welcome you to share your talents, interests, and special skills with our young people. Here are some ways you can contribute:
Tutor
Tutors assist our youth with homework or study and improving their basic learning skills during our after-school program, which is held weekly, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tutors should be able to commit to a regular schedule to provide consistency for the students and should be able to volunteer at least once per week.
Mentor
Each mentor is paired with a Student in need of a close, caring relationship with an adult. Mentors act as friends, listeners, and role models for our youth. The relationship is closely supervised and supported by staff, see Gilo Logan. Mentors are asked to make a one-year commitment and to have one face-to-face meeting with the students each month and to call or write two or three times each month.
Special Events and Outings
SOUL hosts frequent outings, field trips, cultural activities, youth conferences, and special events for the participants. Volunteers provide supervision and interact with the students and their families during these activities. Volunteer may also help plan and coordinate special events. This is a great way for someone looking for a very flexible volunteer commitment to get involved.
Special Skills
S.O.U.L. encourages volunteers to share their special skills with our Youth. Show the children in our program how to do the things you enjoy most: drama, dance, camping, discussions, etc. Teach our youth how to play chess or organize a soup kitchen. There are countless ways to share your talents with the youth.
Fund Raising and Performance Activities
S.O.U.L. also welcomes volunteers who are interested in helping with fund-raising events, public relations efforts, and general program support.
